On September 20, 2019, SMARTCAP, SMARTCAP Construction, and the City of Arlington broke ground on SMARTCAP 188th St. Industrial Park, a phased ground-up development of 219,422 SF of flex-use industrial adjacent to an existing SMARTCAP industrial project in a Seattle MSA Opportunity Zone.
It's incredible to see the progress each week through photos taken by our Senior Superintendent, Matt. These photos show our construction team's progress from Fall 2019 to Winter 2020.
In March of 2020, Governor Inslee halted most statewide construction as part of his "Stay Home, Stay Healthy" order, which was aimed at stopping the spread of COVID-19. This meant that our construction team was not able to work onsite. Instead, they focused on building relationships in the community and came out of the construction freeze with multiple jobs lined up.
In late April, construction reopened on a limited basis and the SMARTCAP Construction team got back to work, quickly making up for time lost during the shutdown.
With one month until completion, site work is in full force! The roof is complete and two large build-outs are happening simultaneously. After signing leases with Wesmar Western Marine Electronics and CheckSum LLC, 188th St. Industrial Park is now 53% pre-leased. You can check out the live view of the site here, and follow SMARTCAP Construction on LinkedIn for more progress pictures!
